Bayer is honoring the contribution pollinators make to the world’s food supply and plant variety during National Pollinator Week (June 17 – 23, 2013). To provide opportunities for pollinator advocates to celebrate National Pollinator Week, Bayer has renewed its Pollinator Pledge and will host events across the country for employees, community members and Congressional staff.

Bayer has again joined efforts with non-profit Pollinator Partnership for this year’s Pollinator Pledge program to help support the North American Pollinator Campaign, a tri-national collaboration in which a diverse group of stakeholders work to protect and conserve all pollinating animals. Through the Pollinator Pledge, Bayer commits to donating $1 for each person who requests a free packet of wildflower seeds to start their own pollinator garden.

In addition to the Pollinator Pledge, Bayer will host a variety of events during National Pollinator Week to foster collaboration among stakeholders and increase awareness of honey bee health across the country. During the week, Bayer will:

  • Work with community members at its Kansas City, Mo., facility to plant a pollinator-friendly garden and provide educational events for employees and their families.

  • Host a Congressional reception in Washington, D.C., to honor this year’s recipient of the first Bayer Bee Care Community Leadership Award, an honor presented to an individual who exemplifies a commitment to bee health in the community.

  • Participate in discussion and collaboration on bee health at the USDA People’s Garden event in Washington, D.C.
