Did you know that August is National Peach Month? For us at Titan Farms, this is always a bittersweet time of year. Bittersweet because the season is coming to a close in the next 30 days, but sweeter because we know we provided you with the best peaches out there!

If we could only use one word to describe our signature crop it would be passion. Passion for peaches is what we live and breathe every year – not just during peach season, but also before and after. In fact, peach season is not over the minute we stop harvesting the last peach, nor the minute the last pallet of peaches leave the farm. When that moment comes, we are already thinking of next season:  What did we learn from this season? What can we do better next year? Is there something we can improve in our packing shed or in the fields to make sure that our consumers get the best peaches they have ever had?

Let me back up a bit. We have proudly grown South Carolina peaches at Titan Farms since 1995. Over the years we have learned a lot about what makes our peaches special. We are lucky to count on the rich acidic soils and optimal climate conditions native to South Carolina which provide the perfect environment for our tastier South Carolina grown peaches! And of course, our people – our entire Titan Farms family lives and breathes the same passion for peaches – and it shows.

You may be asking, what happens once our precious peaches make their way into your kitchen? Well, peaches will last between 3-4 days on the counter and 7-14 days longer in the fridge, and can be frozen for up to 10 months. Shelf life depends on when peaches were picked and how they are stored. For immediate consumption, place fruit on the counter individually with the stem-end down and be sure they are not touching each other or any other fruit. If you are not ready to eat them just yet, place them in the produce bin of your refrigerator.  The cold temp will keep them fresh until you are ready to use them. Once they reach the desired ripeness, please enjoy them your favorite way!  At www.titanfarms.com you will find lots of great recipes that will show you how versatile this beautiful fruit is – try them in salads, main courses, smoothies and of course desserts.

We hope you enjoy National Peach Month as much as we do!
