InVigor® Canola Continues More for Everyone

Bayer CropScience gives community awards again and adds to InVigor line-up

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (Dec. 9, 2010) – For U.S. canola growers, InVigor has always meant more yield than the competition. Now with new additional hybrids, InVigor canola continues to provide growers with more. For the 2011 growing season, Bayer CropScience offers growers greater planting options with more InVigor canola hybrids, as well as an opportunity to share a little of the good life with their communities. Through the More for Everyone program, Bayer CropScience will grant five awards to deserving organizations in canola growers’ communities.

By booking InVigor before Jan. 31, 2011, in the Early Book program, canola growers will experience some of the good life with $50 per bag in Innovation Plus rewards. Innovation Plus replaces Growing Strong but will operate similarly with rewards points redeemable in cash or as merchandise.

On top of the Innovation Plus rewards for growers, 50 cents for every bag of InVigor canola purchased through Early Booking will be put into the More for Everyone bank. From this bank, Bayer CropScience will grant up to five awards to community organizations. Canola growers will have the opportunity to nominate a qualifying 501(c)3 organization, healthcare service or educational institution in need of such funding.

“We believe the benefits of InVigor hybrids result in More for Everyone – and for two straight years, we continued to expand what ‘more’ defines,” says Tom Schuler, BioScience Business Development Manager for Bayer CropScience. “Through stronger early season growth that results in consistently better yields, growers have benefitted from InVigor canola for years. In 2010 we expanded the vision of ‘everyone’ to include our customers’ neighbors with the community awards. And in 2011, we add even ‘more’ InVigor hybrids.”

The two new varieties for 2011 deliver the reliable performance growers expect from the rest of the InVigor line: superior crop establishment, uniform maturity and greater harvestability over many other hybrids. A full-season variety, new InVigor L150 is bred to generate top yields and the highest oil of any InVigor hybrid today. And it has proven superior lodging resistance and the highest resistance rating for Blackleg.

InVigor L130 is the newest mid-season variety, creating superior value for years and planting times when the genetics of a full-season variety cannot be fully realized. It also has the highest resistance rating possible for Blackleg. As with the entire InVigor line, the new hybrids carry the LibertyLink® trait, which provides built-in tolerance to Ignite® herbicide.

To submit a local non-profit organization for consideration of a grant, Early Book participants should ask their retailer for a nomination form. For an organization to be considered, the Early Book participant should write a brief overview explaining why the organization or community project deserves to be a recipient of the More for Everyone funding.

“As was reinforced by the response to last year’s More for Everyone community program, U.S. canola growers are committed to their neighbors,” adds Schuler. “Bayer CropScience looks forward to extending that commitment by making a contribution to their communities, while continuing to provide our customers with the best and newest canola hybrids and an attractive early booking reward.”

The final amounts awarded to community groups through the More for Everyone program will be determined by how many total bags of seed are reserved during Early Book. Grant recipients will be announced in March 2011.
