Bayer CropScience Launches Movento® MPC Insecticide for Florida Citrus

Unique Two-Way Systemic Insecticide Offers Efficacy, Residual Control and Expanded Availability to Florida Citrus Growers

Ft. Pierce, FL (January 20, 2011) —Bayer CropScience today introduced Movento® MPC insecticide during opening day of the 2011 Florida Citrus Show, held this year in Ft. Pierce, FL. Movento® MPC (for “Multiple Pest Control”) is a special formulation of Bayer’s flagship Movento® brand insecticide designed specifically for Florida citrus growers.

“We recognize the many challenges Florida citrus growers face, including the increased pressure to control pests that transmit bacteria and to maintain good tree health within their citrus groves,” said Kevin Adam, Movento® MPC product manager for Bayer CropScience. “The introduction of Movento® MPC will expand the availability of this proven residual systemic tool to provide growers a valuable solution in their battle against Asian citrus psyllid, rust mites and other citrus pests.”

At the same time, Movento® MPC has minimal impact on beneficial insects and natural predators, making it an excellent fit for Integrated Pest Management programs.

Movento® MPC demonstrates tremendous efficacy thanks to its two-way systemic activity within the plant.  After application, Movento® MPC moves upward and downward through the plant tissue, ensuring even and continuous distribution and better overall protection of young shoots, leaves and roots.

The new product is a 1.25 lb. active ingredient per gallon suspension concentrate formulation. It offers a 24-hour restricted entry period and a one-day pre-harvest interval. Movento® MPC should be applied at 16 ounces per acre along with a spray adjuvant that provides spreading and penetrating properties to maximize leaf uptake and systemicity of the active ingredient within treated plant parts.

Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for Movento® MPC have been established by Japan, Codex, the European Union, Canada, Mexico and the United States. A comprehensive list of established MRLs can be found online at:
