Employees Pledge To Bus, Carpool, Bike Or Telecommute In Annual Triangle Program
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Bayer CropScience (www.bayercropscience.us), one of the world’s top innovative crop science companies in the areas of crop protection, non-agricultural pest control, seeds and traits, has announced that it is participating in the 2011 SmartCommute Challenge coordinated by GoTriangle and SmartCommute@rtp.The Challenge encourages Triangle commuters to try an alternative commute (not driving alone) to work or campus such as riding the bus, carpooling, vanpooling, teleworking, biking or walking. The Challenge lasts from April 1 to June 1.
Bayer CropScience has participated in the Challenge for several years. The company has posted bus transportation schedules and air quality signs around campus to motivate its employees. Bayer CropScience is also a member of the GoTriangle Emergency Ride Home program that provides rental cars or taxi rides to part-time and full-time employees who commute via carpool, bus, bike or on foot.
“Bayer CropScience is proud to once again participate in the SmartCommute Challenge,” said William Buckner, Bayer CropScience CEO. “It is important to constantly reaffirm our community’s commitment to sustainability. With gas prices on the rise, it makes sense both economically and environmentally to seek alternative forms of transportation.”
