One-Pass Herbicide Program Fits Multifaceted Operation

Illinois dairyman and grain producer says saving time is essential

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – With 650 grain acres, 200 dairy cows and 4,000 custom application acres, time management is key for Breese, Ill., farmer Bryan Henrichs, and the last thing he wants to worry about is weedy corn.

Henrichs spreads manure fertilizer on his corn acres, and in turn, has high weed pressure, as manure provides weed-flourishing nutrients year-round. When it comes to choosing a herbicide program, Henrichs looks for one that is simple and will control weeds throughout the season. That’s why he says he chose Corvus® one-pass pre-emergence corn herbicide last season to keep down high grass pressure and glyphosate-resistant marestail and waterhemp.

“With all the dairies in this area, we get pretty busy in the spring,” Henrichs says. “There isn’t a whole lot of time after we plant corn to come back. We don’t want to babysit our corn. We’re usually out bailing hay or planting our other crops. One-pass just simplifies the corn weed management issue. It makes it a very simple system.”
