RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Corn and soybean farmer Timothy Bult, Hebron, Ind., has been using two-pass herbicide programs to control hard-to-kill weeds for years. Recommendations from trusted sources finally convinced him to try a one-pass pre-emergence corn herbicide on 300 acres.
“It wasn’t in my plans originally, but I gave it a try. It really worked well. Even the muck ground got a lot of control, which I haven’t used anything that could accomplish that before,” Bult said.
Last season, Corvus® herbicide from Bayer CropScience controlled buttonweed, common ragweed, lambsquarters, Johnsongrass and foxtails throughout the season. Bult said it was easy to see where he ran out of Corvus on one field: “I could definitely tell where I had stopped spraying. We couldn’t get back into the field until the end of June, so there was a whole month where the weeds were taking off and growing [where we didn’t spray Corvus].”
