Bayer CropScience issued the following statement in response to the issuance of the Report on the National Stakeholders Conference on Honey Bee Health
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (May 3, 2013) – Bayer CropScience issued the following statement in response to the issuance of the Report on the National Stakeholders Conference on Honey Bee Health by the United States Department of Agriculture and United States Environmental Protection Agency:
“The Report on the National Stakeholders Conference on Honey Bee Health issued by the USDA and EPA on May 2 provides a comprehensive assessment of the major factors contributing to honey bee decline in the United States. Of particular concern noted in the report is the recognition of the impact of parasites, especially the Varroa mite, and associated diseases on bee health and the need to adopt best management practices to improve bee genetics and enhance nutritional opportunities, while minimizing potential exposure from the use of agricultural pesticides. The need for collaboration and information sharing among all stakeholders is a critical component in promoting these best management practices.”
More information by the USDA, CropLife America and the American Farm Bureau Federation has been issued on the report.
