Introducing the LibertyLink System, a simply better solution for today

The soybean weed control landscape is changing.

"The days when growers could tell themselves, ‘I can get one more year out of glyphosate,’ are rapidly drawing to a close, as glyphosate-resistant broadleaves like pigweed, waterhemp and giant ragweed have become commonplace on farms across the country.”
– Jason Norsworthy, Associate Professor of Weed Science at the University of Arkansas

Twentieth-century weed control is no longer effective. Glyphosate was a game-changer 20 years ago, but we can no longer spray the same chemistry multiple times on the same acre, year in and year out, and expect the same results. Herbicide resistance is increasing, but we can fight it with effective weed control. That means mixing multiple sites of action on your fields.

MISSED WEEDS ARE ON THE RISE.
In 2012, glyphosate-resistant weeds were reported on 61 million acres.

THAT ROSE TO 84 MILLION IN 2014 AND GROWING.
More soybean farmers surveyed also are saying they have resistant weeds.

New technologies have reached a standstill. Since the 1980s, no new herbicide chemistries have been developed. Future solutions are mixing and stacking multiple sites of action to try to control weeds and prevent increased resistance.

You can’t wait for a future solution when missed weeds are shrinking your yields today.

LibertyLink® is a simply better solution and is available today.

Providing Excellent Weed Control with No Row Crop Resistance

No More Missed Yields

Weeds which emerge with the crop, or shortly thereafter, have the greatest potential to negatively affect yields.

The associated yield loss is strongly influenced by how long weeds are allowed to remain in the field.

A Michigan State University study showed that when weeds were allowed to reach 6 inches in height before control, yield was reduced as much as 2.5 to 5.5 bu./A per day.*

Palmer Amaranth

can reduce yields by as much as 79% and can drop hundreds of thousands of seeds, creating problems for years to come.

Waterhemp

can reduce yields by as much as 44%.

Marestail

can reduce yields by as much as 22%.

  • The ONLY working nonselective herbicide still effective on grasses and broadleaf weeds**
  • Unique site of action(Group 10), unlike any other herbicide on the market
  • STOPs tough-to-control and resistant weeds
  • Neighbor-friendly and convenient to use

It Contains a Different Chemistry

Liberty, a Group 10 site mode of action herbicide, is fast-acting and kills weeds in days rather than weeks. You will see overall value when you choose the LibertyLink® system to control weeds today.

Capturing Real Yield with a 2.1 b.u/A Advantage

Get Real Soybean Yields Now

Better weed control leads to better soybean yields. With the LibertyLink® system, weeds are better controlled to reduce their drain on yield for better results in the real world. Liberty® herbicide controls weeds quickly, so LibertyLink varieties can reach their full yield potential.

  • Across the board, on-farm comparisons, independent Studies and university research show Libertylink delivers real yield.
  • For three years running, 3 out of 4 growers reported LibertyLink soybeans yielded as much as and better than on-farm averages.*
  • University research trials confirm LibertyLink soybeans have a 2.1 bushel yield advantage over Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans.

Words from the Field Backs Research.
Real Stories. Real Growers. Real Yield.

“…Liberty herbicide has done an excellent job of controlling all the weeds in the spectrum, not just the resistant ones…I’m 100 percent satisfied with it. I see no reason to change in any way, shape or form. It just really works well.” – Tom Ramsey, OH

“Yes, I would recommend it and I would tell them that it’s had very good control of the weeds. Gives a guy another option as far as weed control. I’m very satisfied with it.” – Joe Plaetz, MN

“This year we mainly chose it because last year we had our best soybean yields ever. I would say I’m very satisfied planting LibertyLink soybeans.” – Andy Sekel, IN

“I actually had better soybeans on the Liberty side than I did on the Roundup side. So I’ve gone with Liberty because I feel my yields are every bit as good and I have cleaner fields.”
– Peter Van Regenmorter, IA

Redefining Weed Control with Convenience & Neighbor-Friendliness

Redefining the Standard in Weed Control

The spread of resistant weeds has meant adding complex treatments to an already complex process…until now.

LibertyLink® is a simply better system that allows growers to plant and harvest more acres while saving time and money.

  • Controls weeds before they go to seed to reduce the seed bank
  • Reduces the need for costly additional postemergent applications
  • Low spray-tank cleanout concerns
  • No drift issues or buffer requirements

LIBERTY® - The More Convenient & Neighbor-Friendly Option

Liberty® provides several advantages over the dicamba system, including less risk for off-target movement, no buffers, less application requirements, ease of tank cleanout and control of a broader spectrum of weeds.”

Promoting Stewardship for Sustainability with IWM Best Practices

Weed Resistance is Growing Rapidly.

With new chemical developments lacking, proper stewardship of current chemistries is more important than ever. Bayer offers best practices, tips and tools to help you avoid increasing resistance on your farm.

Integrated Weed Management

When resistant weeds develop, farmers face additional costs to control them – unplanned herbicide applications, intense manual labor, even total crop loss. Using Liberty® herbicide and these 10 steps to integrated weed management can help to prevent additional costs and can result in successful management of resistant weeds.

10 Steps to Integrated Weed Management

  • Rotate crops
  • Rotate herbicide-tolerant traits
  • Use multiple effective modes of action
  • Know your weeds, know your fields
  • Start with clean fields
  • Stay clean – use residual herbicides
  • Apply herbicides correctly
  • Control weed escapes
  • Zero tolerance – reduce the seed bank
  • Clean equipment

S.T.O.P. Weeds With Liberty®

To get the most from Liberty herbicide and ensure continued success, Bayer CropScience developed the S.T.O.P Weeds with Liberty program to help growers simplify their applications for maximum control.

Start clean and stay clean.

Begin soon after emergence when weeds are smaller.

WHY?
Weeds can grow exceptionally fast, such as waterhemp, which grows over an inch per day*.

Target < 3" weeds.

Small weeds are easier to control.

WHY?
Weeds like Palmer amaranth can be extremely hard to control with postemergent herbicides after reaching three inches.**

Optimize coverage.

Follow the correct rate, water volume and droplet size.

WHY?
Liberty is a contact herbicide, so proper coverage is key to ensure effective control.

Pair with residuals.

Use multiple effective sites of action for pre- and postresiduals.

WHY?
The key to preventing resistance is to reduce the pressure on single herbicides.
