FAQ

What is TwinLink® technology?

TwinLink® technology is the latest in a series of innovative weed and pest management solutions for cotton growers developed by Bayer. TwinLink cotton technology combines season-long Bt protection against worm pests with its powerful weed management technology. TwinLink is available as a GlyTol® LibertyLink® TwinLink (GLT) trait package, which provides two Bt genes plus full tolerance to Liberty® herbicide and glyphosate. This trait package offers high-level caterpillar control and two choices for over-the-top, broad-spectrum herbicide applications.

When did TwinLink technology become commercially available?

TwinLink cotton technology first became commercially available for the 2014 growing season, having received all necessary U.S. and international approvals.

Which pests and weeds does the TwinLink trait help manage?

Pests: The TwinLink trait provides effective management of major lepidopteran pests, such as tobacco budworm, pink bollworm and cotton bollworm. TwinLink produces two insecticidal Bt proteins, Cry1Ab and Cry2Ae, with independent actions for highly effective control of key leaf- and fruit-feeding lepidopteran pests. These novel Bt genes protect against a wide range of worm pests to help cotton growers maximize yield potential and fiber quality.

Weeds: TwinLink also provides full tolerance to Liberty herbicide to control a wide range of broadleaf and grass weeds.

Where is the GlyTol LibertyLink TwinLink trait package available?

TwinLink is now available to U.S. cotton growers through our flagship cottonseed brands FiberMax® and Stoneville® as a GLT trait package, which provides two Bt genes plus full tolerance to Liberty herbicide and glyphosate.

What benefits does the GlyTol LibertyLink TwinLink trait package offer growers?

The GLT trait package is a powerful tool for high-level caterpillar control and offers two choices for over-the-top, broad-spectrum herbicide applications. GLT gives growers the flexibility to choose the herbicide applications that best fit their cotton-growing conditions and farm management practices.

How can the GlyTol LibertyLink TwinLink trait package work as a component of Integrated Weed Management?

The GLT trait package offers two choices for over-the-top, broad-spectrum herbicide applications. This gives growers the ability to rotate herbicide modes of action to control weeds effectively and reduce the potential of weed resistance.

In which varieties is the GlyTol LibertyLink TwinLink trait package available?
