Hero

Sacramento Area

The Sacramento area site is the global headquarters of Crop Science, a division of Bayer’s Biologics group, focused on innovative biological pest management solutions. The site houses Crop Science’s center of excellence for research and development in this area, making Bayer a leading company for research, development and production of microbial-based crop protection products. Products originating from the Biologics team include Serenade Soil® fungicide, Ballad Plus® fungicide and Sonata® fungicide.

The region is also home to a team from Bayer Vegetable Seeds. At this site, researchers engage in integrated breeding, the cornerstone of the company’s commitment to solving challenges in vegetable crop improvement. This team collaborates closely with the scientific community at UC Davis, one of the world’s largest research centers in plant science. Research programs here are closely tied with the company’s breeding programs in other locations in California, Oregon and around the world.

Safety and Environment

Environmental Responsibility

Bayer employs a site-wide program that includes recycling paper products, office supplies, batteries and the use of biodegradable materials in dining areas. Additionally, many of our employees bike to work in an effort to reduce the carbon load on the environment and participate in community service projects to improve landscaping at local schools, parks, and waterways.

Safety commitment

We are committed to providing all of our employees with a safe environment. The safety program offers all employees specific guidelines on proper execution of their daily work function. Research staff receive periodic training specific to their area of expertise and all site employees receive training in general lab safety procedures, potential job hazards, emergency evacuation, injury illness and prevention programs, and ergonomics.

Community and Cultural Engagement

Community Commitment

We are committed to preserving our environment and actively engaging in our community. In particular, our Sacramento area site supports local environmental projects such as the Oak Diversity Trail and the University of California Davis Arboretum, as well as educational outreach into local elementary schools. Each year the team also contributes to a local emergency aid organization providing local families in need with food, clothing and other daily necessities. And together with local healthcare professionals, our employees donate their time and blood to support patients throughout our Northern California region. // MORE
