QUALITY AWARD WINNERS

High-yielding varieties showed outstanding grain quality in the 2025 National Wheat Yield Contest Top Quality Award category.

The NWYC Top Quality Awards were determined by testing wheat grain samples from the 2025 national yield winners for end-use quality, with final selections made by a panel of industry experts. Award-winning WestBred wheat varieties represent a high-performing product portfolio built on both strong yield potential and outstanding grain quality.

Top Quality Award winners include:

Hard Red Winter

  • Matt Dornan of Chandler, Oklahoma, with WB4422 and a 242.40% increase over the county average, with a final yield of 106.45 Bu/A. He won 2nd place % over county and first-place quality in the winter wheat dryland category.
  • Kenneth O’Neal of Groom, Texas, with WB4792 and a 219.628% increase over the county average, with a final yield of 89.14 Bu/A. He won 3rd place % over the county and third-place quality in the winter wheat dryland category.

Hard Red Spring

  • Jordan Christman of Hettinger, North Dakota, with WB9590 and a 157.049% increase over the county average, with a final yield of 101.27 Bu/A. He won 1st place % over county and second-place quality in the spring wheat dryland category.

Hard White Spring

  • Dallin Wilcox of Rexburg, Idaho, with WB7589 and a yield of 190.10 Bu/A was the 1st place winner in both yield and quality in the spring wheat irrigated category.

2025 WestBred® Wheat Exclusive Seed Supplier Promotion:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE ODDS OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Open only to seed suppliers who distribute WestBred brand products. Suppliers are automatically entered. Winning suppliers determined based on growers entered with completed harvest reports in the 2025 National Wheat Yield Contest and win a National Prize. Prize: 4-day/3-night trip for 2 (both travelers must be at least 18 years of age) to the 2026 Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas; includes round trip coach air transportation for 2 people from major U.S. airport nearest winner's home - winner and guest must travel from one departure location and on the same itinerary, standard hotel accommodations for 3 nights (double occupancy), and ground transportation to and from hotel/airport in San Antonio, Texas. Expenses not specified (flight/travel insurance, baggage fees, taxes, meals, personal expenses) are the sole responsibility of winner. Prize trip for national winners of the NWYC includes 4-day/3-night trip for 1 guest to Denver, Colorado including round-trip coach air transportation for 1 from a major airport nearest guest’s home to Denver, ground transportation to/from the airport while in Denver, and 2025 Commodity Classic conference fees.
