One-Month Weather Outlook

In the next 30 days, the entire South should expect above-average temperatures. Rainfall is expected to be above average north of I-20 and may be above or below average elsewhere. In the next 14 days, expect above-average temperatures with normal to below-normal rainfall.

Frogeye Leaf Spot Risk Summary

Risk of frogeye leaf spot remains moderate to high within most of the South.

Next two-week risk interpretation

Conditions are moderately to highly favorable for this disease in most regions east of the Mississippi River. Areas in yellow, scout late planted susceptible cultivars. Consult an agronomist if lesions are found in the upper canopy in fields that have yet to reach the R5/early seed stage. Areas in orange: consider a fungicide application on susceptible cultivars that have yet to reach the R5/early seed stage. Due to resistance concerns with group 11 Strobilurins, multiple modes of action should be used. Also, the goal should be to prevent lesions, not scout, find lesions, and then spray.
