One-Month Weather Outlook

In the next 30 days, temperatures will be above average. Precipitation will be below average south of I-90, in regions surrounding the Missouri River. In the next 14 days, temperatures will be average to above average. Precipitation should remain normal, except for regions east of I-55, which should expect higher than normal precipitation.

White Mold Risk Summary

Risk of white mold is moderate to high in soybean production regions north of I-90.

Next two-week risk interpretation

In the next two weeks, conditions are moderately or highly favorable for white mold in regions north of I-90, particularly fields with closed canopies. Areas in yellow, and in fields with a closed canopy, scout for sclerotia (small black structures that look like a grain of rice) on the soil surface and white mold mushrooms growing from them. If found, and soybeans are R1-R3, a fungicide application is recommended. Areas in orange, a fungicide application is recommended on susceptible varieties. Risk is higher in fields with a history of white mold, fields with adequate moisture, and fields that have full canopy closure.
