Trial Objective
- The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the yield response of current and new Deltapine® cotton varieties to seed spacing.
Research Site Details
- Deltapine® cotton varieties planted:
- — DP 1725 B2XF
- — DP 1835 B3XF
- — DP 1840 B3XF
- — DP 1851 B3XF
- Number of seeds per foot of row:
- — 1.5
- — 2.5
- — 3.5
- — 4.5
- Plots were single strip trials that were 8-12 rows wide and 500 feet long.
- All agronomic practices were per local standards.

- Cotton growers in the upper Southeast typically plant seeds at a rate of 2 to 3 seeds/ft of a row, regardless of row width; this study helps confirm that this seed spacing is ideal for most situations.
