Grain for Good Sweepstakes Invites Cereal Growers to Support Local Community Organizations for Second Year

December 5, 2018

$50,000 will be donated among 10 charities

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, cereal growers can enter for a chance to win a $5,000 donation from Bayer to a charity of their choice through the Grain for Good™ Sweepstakes presented by the Bayer Cereal Experts. Following the success of its inaugural year, the sweepstakes will expand eligible cereal states from 10 to 12.

"We are very excited to see the Grain for Good sweepstakes come back for another year," said Carter Medalen, Bayer senior technical sales representative. "Last year cereal growers enthusiastically participated to give back to local organizations. It was great to see the positive effect of the donations, and I join the rest of the Cereal Experts in my excitement to see how the donations will help communities this year."

In its first year, the Grain for Good sweepstakes donated $50,000 to 10 charities, which helped provide classroom materials, new equipment, grants and scholarships.

"When I saw the opportunity from Bayer to potentially receive $5,000 for my local community, I said to my husband, let's go for it,'" said Karen Thomas, a wheat grower from Velva, North Dakota, and one of 10 Grain for Good winners in 2018. "We have two boys in high school and both are planning on furthering their education at North Dakota State University in agriculture and returning to the farm. The Velva Ag Department has provided excellent education. We hope the $5,000 will be used to enhance the tools and equipment to increase the opportunities for students interested in agriculture."

Growers can enter to win by mail or at now through March 31, 2019. There is no purchase necessary and a limit of only one entry per person. Winners will be selected randomly by a third party and announced in April 2019.
