Bayer CropScience Launches App that Brings Solutions to Turfgrass Professionals on the Go

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (May 7, 2014) – Golf course superintendents and lawn care professionals can now instantly access Bayer’s best-in-class innovation and research from their iPhone or iPad using the Backed by Bayer™ app from Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP. Download the free app at the iTunes store for solutions and preventative tips to combat troublesome weeds, turf diseases and pests.
“Increasingly, lawn care operators and superintendents are being asked to take on responsibilities that go way beyond the traditional scope of turf management,” said Scott Welge, head of marketing for Bayer’s T&O business. “It is important for us to be there for superintendents and lawn care professionals where they are in greatest need of information and technical solutions – be it on the course or during a customer visit.”
Bayer developed the Backed by Bayer app to arm turfgrass professionals with the tools for success, formatted to best complement the ways they are doing business. Superintendents and lawn care professionals can search troublesome weeds, turf diseases and insect pests to identify the problem and recommended treatment. In addition, the app offers comprehensive product information, a rate calculator, weather information and access to Bayer sales representatives, distributors and current promotions.
“The Backed by Bayer app allows superintendents to stay in control and keep things moving,” said David Wells, Bayer’s golf business manager. “Whether superintendents need information on or away from the course, they can use the app to instantly identify and treat problems affecting their turf, track their application data, and easily refer to Bayer product labels, MSDS and local contacts.”
Market research indicates more than 75 percent of lawn care professionals and more than 70 percent of golf course superintendents use a smartphone for business purposes. Turfgrass professionals are already using smartphones to access industry news and resources, communicate via text and email, capture work-related photographs, and more. Now they can also use the Backed by Bayer app, designed for both iPhone and iPad, to address some of their toughest turf management challenges.
