Wheat Grower Jesse Green Confidently Puts All His Eggs In One Basket

Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Associate Farm Director Carson Horn was at the 2019 Commodity Classic in Orlando, Florida last week. While there Carson stopped to talk with Jesse Green, a wheat producer from Wellston, OK who offered his take on Bayer’s Westbred wheat variety and the success he’s has had with it.


15 of the 21 winners recognized in the 2018 National Wheat Yield Contest achieved the honor with a WestBred variety. Last year Green won the state yield contest with 4303, and went on to take 2nd place in the nation.

“Without Westbred the last couple years, I feel fully confident in saying that I would not have been seeing the yields I’ve seen over the last three years,” stated Green. “Westbred’s the way to go on wheat in my mind.”
