Tailored Solutions for Corn in Michigan
June 14, 2023
TRIAL OBJECTIVE
- The objective of this trial was to evaluate tailored solutions for fungicide applications using FieldView™ digital insights in Michigan.
- Data generated from this trial will help to reinforce and improve FieldView™ recommendations for fungicide application for corn products with varied levels of disease susceptibility.

- A split-block design with three replications was used to compare yield response of four corn products to a fungicide application at the R1 growth stage (Figure 1).
- Treatments
- Four SmartStax® RIB Complete® corn blend products with relative maturities (RM) ranging from 99 to 102: Product A (RM 99), Product B (RM 100), Product C (RM 101), Product D (RM 102).
- Fungicide: Untreated and Delaro® Complete Fungicide at 10 oz/acre at R1 growth stage.
UNDERSTANDING THE RESULTS
- While disease pressure was low at this location in 2022, data is used to bolster the FieldView™ digital insights model for tailored solutions.
- In this trial, when treated with Delaro® Complete Fungicide at the R1 growth stage the four corn products had an average yield advantage of 8 bu/acre over the untreated check (Figure 2).
- In 2022, corn product C (101 RM) showed the greatest response to fungicide application with an increase of 11 bu/acre over the untreated (Figure 3).
KEY LEARNINGS
- While very little disease pressure was present at this location in 2022, the average yields of Delaro® Complete Fungicide treated corn at the R1 growth stage was 8 bu/acre higher than the untreated corn.
- The magnitude of yield increase varied by corn product and this information will help to provide a better understanding for development of tailored solutions in FieldView™ digital insights.
